FREEDOM and EASE in MUSIC MAKING

ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE for MUSICIANS Workshop for NEC Prep Students (Parents are invited to attend)

Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 12-1 PM in the Saint-Botolph Building Room 309

Clara Sandler, Prep Voice and Alexander Technique Faculty

Have you experienced tension/pain/fatigue while playing your instrument or singing? Do you have postural issues?

In this experiential class, we will learn how we usually interfere with the body’s natural alignment and coordination and what to do about it.

The Alexander Technique helps develop a conscious awareness of how we use our body and helps change habits that cause tension and pain. It also helps with performance anxiety.

For over 100 years the Alexander Technique has helped musicians, actors, dancers, athletes and others get rid of unnecessary tensions and perform with ease and enjoyment.

Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat or towel. Be ready to move around, sit on the floor, and bring sheet music and your instrument! There will be an informal performance on the last class.

Come explore how the Alexander Technique can help you with performance pain, as well as postural and tension issues to find more freedom in your singing and playing your instrument!

Our first Spring semester class will start on February 1st from 10am-11am. Learn More
