Each year, thousands of young musicians apply for admission to NEC from all over the world.  Nine out of ten request financial assistance. For many, the scholarship and offer package is a crucial factor in their decision to attend NEC.

NEC is fortunate to employ over 200 internationally renowned musicians (includes multiple winners of the Rome Prize, Pulitzer Prize, Grammy Awards, Avery Fisher Prize) who foster a supportive space for a student’s personal and artistic growth. Whether working with musicians at NEC’s Preparatory School, College, or School of Continuing Education, NEC faculty enable students to grow their creative voices and achieve the highest standards of excellence. As a result of the student-faculty relationship, the NEC community is one of bold innovation, limitless artistic possibilities, and thoughtful reflection on the meaning of musicianship in 21st-century life.

An NEC education takes students beyond the Jordan Hall stage by providing:

  • Experiential learning opportunities that share the value of music with underprivileged communities across the Boston area
  • Help with innovative and impactful projects to develop critical skills of communicating a vision, creating a production plan, developing a marketing strategy, and balancing budgets
  • Masterclasses with visiting artists, including Yo-Yo Ma, Emmanuel Ax and Thomas Adès
  • Access to the more than 400,000 books, scores and audio recordings available at the Blumenthal Family Library
