What does it really mean to be fluent in more than one musical language?

In the age of YouTube, world music traditions now seem closer and more accessible due to media saturation. However, while these musics may be endlessly mediatized, to master them still requires years of dedication and serious study. Please join us as part of our series where we hear directly from composers and performers who are bimusical (musically multilingual) as to what it took them to master both a Western musical tradition and a second world music tradition. On this occasion, our guest Tev Stevig will perform live and talk to us about his musical adventures which include Jazz, Klezmer music, Turkish music and more… Tev is a Boston-based guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, specializing in a variety of plucked string instruments from the Balkans, Greece, and Turkey.
