Undergraduate Opera Studio: Poulenc and Donizetti (Outdoor Performances)
The Undergraduate Opera Studio offers an introduction to performance skills in opera and lyric theatre and the discipline of being a professional singer.
This semester will conclude with two special performances — both held outside on the steps of Jordan Hall.
Imagine if you will, that the stairs of Jordan Hall are the stage, the street is the pit and the windows of the practice rooms are opera boxes in a European opera house. I hope that this performance of Poulenc and Donizetti will live in your memory for many years to come. Despite the difficulty of this year, I hope that your voices ring through the streets of Boston to remind people that art is alive and well at New England Conservatory and not even a pandemic can keep us from sharing it with the community at large.
May we all be safe and back in halls in the near future, but may we never forget the innovations that this pandemic has taught us.
Many thanks to the students and their coaches and directors who have worked so hard to bring you this wonderful entertainment.
