Sarah Jarosz Wins Best Americana Album at 2021 Grammy Awards

Contemporary Improvisation alumna Sarah Jarosz '13 has won the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Americana Album for her record "World on the Ground."

This is Jarosz's fourth Grammy win. She was previously honored with a 2020 Grammy for Best American Roots Song with her band, I'm With Her, co-written with bandmates Aoife O'Donovan '03 DP and Sara Watkins. Jarosz also won Grammys in 2017 for Best American Roots Performance for her song "House of Mercy" and Best Folk Album for Undercurrent.

Recent Grow Your Art residency artist Maria Schneider also took home Grammys for Best Instrumental Composition for "Sputnik" and Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for "Data Lords".

NEC faculty Nicholas Cords's quartet Brooklyn Rider was also nominated for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance, and jazz alum Regina Carter was nominated for Best Improvised Jazz Solo.
