Odyssey Opera and NEC present a lecture by world renowned French Opera scholar Hugh Macdonald, entitled “Saint-Saëns's Henry VIII, resurrecting and rebuilding a forgotten opera.”

Born and educated in England, Hugh Macdonald taught at Washington University in St Louis for 24 years, and was a regular pre-concert speaker for the Boston Symphony Orchestra during that time. He was General Editor of the New Berlioz Edition, and has edited a series of French operas from Berlioz to Chabrier.  Mr. Macdonald has also published books on Scriabin, Berlioz, Bizet, and Saint-Saëns.
