Note: This event has been postponed, and will be updated with the new date when available.

Through documenting the stories and histories of Black NEC alumni, we can connect past to present and illuminate the seldom heard tales of NEC’s Black students.

Please join us for the premiere of the new NEC Black Student Union Docuseries, The Connection: Chains and Change.

Hosted by David Norville ’20, ‘22 MM, this project creates a channel of conversation and understanding with the Black community of NEC’s past, educate the community of the New England Conservatory on its inspiring Black alumni, and highlight said alumni who are transforming their fields.

Episode 1: Ashleigh Gordon

The first episode of this two-part release features the esteemed Ashleigh Gordon ’08 MM, violist and Artistic & Executive Director of the Boston-based organization, Castle of Our Skins.

In this episode, we’re tracing Ashe’s story from the very first time she touched a viola, to the New England Conservatory and beyond. In what ways have inequities and prejudice appeared in the conservatory over the last few decades? We’re taking survey of our alumni and their stories as we look toward a more just and inclusive future.
