NEC Percussion Ensemble + Epstein

NEC: Jordan Hall | Directions

290 Huntington Ave.
Boston, MA
United States

Tonight's concert by the NEC Percussion Ensemble includes a performance of Gyorgy Ligeti's “Sippal, Dobbal, Nadeihegeduvel”, featuring mezzo-soprano Whitney Robinson, and conducted by the ensemble's director, Frank Epstein. The program will also include a work by Kathryn Salfelder, written for the NEC Percussion Ensemble.

Frank Epstein, former Boston Symphony Orchestra percussionist, former Chair of Brass and Percussion at NEC, and Director of the NEC Percussion Ensemble, has long been an ardent champion of new music. With the NEC Percussion Ensemble, he has commissioned and given first performances of many new works, helping building a 21st century repertory for that instrumental grouping. Percussion Ensemble concerts, then, are a rich and varied mix of styles, colors, and textures.
