The NEC Opera Department welcomes renown master teacher Julia Faulkner as NEC Artist-in-Residence. In addition to providing lessons and coachings to voice students in the opera program, Ms. Faulkner will also conduct two public masterclasses.

Julia Faulkner has firmly established herself as one of the top voice teachers in the world. Her students are performing globally at the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, San Fransisco Opera, and Lyric Opera of Chicago, among others. Julia Faulkner is the Director of Vocal studies for the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center, Lyric Opera of Chicago’s renowned professional artist-development program. She is also on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music and is a Master Teacher for the apprentices at the Santa Fe Opera. Previously a professor of voice at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for ten years, she has been teaching at the Ryan Opera Center since August 2013.

The first masterclass takes place on October 20, at 7:30pm, in the Plimpton Shattuck Black Box Theatre.
