Jazz50 | NEC Jazz Orchestra feat. Carl Atkins, Alan Pasqua, & Antonio Sanchez
The NEC Jazz Orchestra will celebrate the anniversary of NEC’s Jazz Studies department by playing music drawn from throughout its 50-year history, including George Russell’s “All About Rosie” and Jaki Byard’s “Two Five One” with guest conductor Carl Atkins, who served as the department’s first chair, and pianist and NEC alum Alan Pasqua.
The second half of the concert features Grammy Award-winning Mexican-American jazz drummer and NEC alum Antonio Sanchez in music from his most recent recording, Lines in the Sand, a reflection on the recent events at the border.
Post-concert jam session to follow
