CI Salon Night: Cobra & American Roots Ensembles

Students from NEC’s ground-breaking department of Contemporary Improvisation perform in the American Roots Ensemble, led by Eden MacAdam-Somer, and the Cobra Ensemble, led by Anthony Coleman.

American Roots Ensemble

Every year, the American Roots Ensemble dives into the expanse of "roots" music in North America and follows different paths through this country's musical traditions, including folk songs and fiddle tunes, spiritual music, a cappella singing, body percussion and flatfooting, honky tonk and juke joint music, jug band music, and much more.

Cobra Ensemble

Cobra Ensemble prepares versions of John Zorn's classic music game piece "Cobra".
