NEC Piano Department: A Fine Balance - Piano Music by Women and Men (Part One)
The planning of this series began with the observation that Fanny Mendelssohn and Peter Tchaikovsky each wrote a series of 12 pieces, each piece representing a month in the calendar. Other music in the series is paired similarly — pieces by women and men on similar “themes” — including music by NEC alumna Florence Price, Tania Léon, Meredith Monk and more.
