2017–2019 Taki Concordia Conducting Fellow Named

Lina Gonzalez-Granados '14 M.M., '15 G.D. has been named the Taki Concordia Conducting Fellow for the 2017–2019 seasons. Founded in 2002 by Marin Alsop with the mission to "promote, present, and encourage talented women conductors at the beginning of their professional careers," this fellowship is currently a two-year award that includes six conducting weeks with different orchestras, along with exposure to other career development skills. There is a $7,500 honorarium per season, along with additional funding for travel and accommodations. More about the fellowship

Gonzalez-Granados studied at NEC with Charles Peltz and William Drury in the Wind Ensemble Conducting program, and with Erica Washburn in the Choral Conducting program. She is founder and artistic director of Unitas Ensemble, a Boston-based chamber orchestra specializing in Lagin American repertoire. This work earned her recognition as one of the "Latino 30 under 30" by El Mundo newspaper in 2016. This summer she will serves as assistant conductor of Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra of the United States on their tour of Latin America.

Another NEC alumna, Mei-Ann Chen '95, '98 M.M., was a 2007 recipient of this fellowship.
