Angela Myles Beeching, director of the NEC Career Services Center from 1993 through 2010, has left NEC and is now working as an independent consultant to individuals, ensembles, and institutions. At NEC, Beeching developed an internationally recognized, comprehensive career resource program through which she advised hundreds of our students and alumni on all aspects of their professional lives.
In demand as a speaker and workshop facilitator, Beeching has presented for the National Association of Schools of Music, Chamber Music America, and at Oberlin, Peabody, and Colburn Conservatories. At the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Beeching launched Project Jumpstart in 2010, an innovative career and entrepreneurial leadership program. She also facilitates the Young Performers Career Advancement program for the Association of Performing Arts Presenters and has written articles for a range of arts publications.
A new, expanded edition of Beeching's book Beyond Talent: Creating a Successful Career in Music was released by Oxford University Press in 2010. The first edition of the book has been used as text at music schools across the U.S. and internationally. The new edition focuses on entrepreneurship, innovative self-management, connecting with audiences, and today's changing musical landscape.
