Recital: Sameer Apte '21 MM, Cello
NEC's students meet one-on-one each week with a faculty artist to perfect their craft. As each one leaves NEC to make their mark in the performance world, they present a full, professional recital that is free and open to the public. It's your first look at the artists of tomorrow.
Sameer Apte '21 MM studies Cello with Paul Katz. He is the recipient of a scholarship made possible by the Gregor Piatigorsky Fund.

This past year has been a time of immense change, challenge, and hope.
When I arrived at NEC, I never imagined that just one semester into my degree
we'd be reduced to those first grainy, static Zoom lessons -
and back then in spring 2020, I had no idea we would be able to pull off a full year
of learning, collaborating, and making music together.
Thank you to NEC for making that possible.
I'd also like to thank my marvelous teacher and mentor,
Paul Katz,
for helping me grow musically and to organize and trust myself;
our wonderful cello class, from whom I am inspired and learn something every week;
Yutong and Feng,
wonderful artists with whom it is an utter joy to collaborate;
and Professors Vivian Weilerstein and Alexander Korsantia,
for their specific advice on the Rachmaninoff.
