NEC: Williams Hall | Directions

290 Huntington Ave.

NEC's students meet one-on-one each week with a faculty artist to perfect their craft. As each one leaves NEC to make their mark in the performance world, they present a full, professional recital that is free and open to the public. It's your first look at the artists of tomorrow.

Miu Ishikawa '23 studies Piano with HaeSun Paik and is the recipient of the Tan Family Foundation Scholarship.

This is an in-person event with a private stream available to the NEC community here:

  5. I still vividly remember the moments I listened to senior recitals and looked up to them as a musician when I was a freshman. Time flies. I still cannot believe that now I am on the same stage as they were and trying to conclude these four years as an undergraduate student here.

These past years that I spent at NEC might not have been easy for everyone and this world due to the pandemic. However, truly kindhearted and supportive people around me - my family, Prof. Paik, teachers, and my dearest friends - turned these years into even the greatest memories I have ever had in my life.

To my family, especially my parents,
I would like to send a huge thank you for letting me leave Japan and study here, and for always being supportive and trusting me. I am definitely blessed to have your kindness, patience and understanding.

    To my professor, HaeSun Paik,
I cannot thank you enough for always being patient, believing in my ability to improve myself, and making me smile and laugh during lessons. Although I get nervous before every single lesson even now, it is always a lot of fun to study with you and talk to you. I really cherish and admire all of the qualities that you have both as a person and a musician. People call you Sunny, and you have always been the Sun for me too and brightened up my path.

To my friends, I am grateful for you always being by my side, cheering me up and making me feel loved. You guys are truly my second family and I cannot tell you enough how much I love you all and you all mean to me. You all inspire me to no end.

Lastly, I really appreciate everyone who has come tonight to my recital.

With all my gratitude, I hope you enjoy it!
