Recital: Asher Boorstin '24, Viola

NEC: Burnes Hall | Directions

255 St. Botolph St.
Boston, MA
United States

NEC's students meet one-on-one each week with a faculty artist to perfect their craft. As each one leaves NEC to make their mark in the performance world, they present a full, professional recital that is free and open to the public. It's your first look at the artists of tomorrow.

Asher Boorstin '24 studies Viola with Mai Motobuchi and is the recipient of a scholarship made possible by the Frances Parson Hunt Memorial Fund.

This is an in-person event with a private stream available to the NEC community here: https://necmusic.edu/live

I'd like to thank all my friends for their support, chats in the practice rooms, and for making the world a happier place.

Thanks to my brothers for the meals and phone calls, and to my parents for their unwavering support.

Thank you to Tae for four years of incredible collaboration, and to Honor and Li Shan for playing with me in this recital.

Special thanks to some of my mentors, who have each shaped my time at NEC:

Marcus Thompson, for a deeply inspiring semester of study and wisdom.

James Klein, for many brilliant classes and thesis meetings, and for helping to provide balance in my education and life.

Daniel Getz, for his guidance and kindness since my sophomore year of high school.

Mai Motobuchi, my awe-inspiring teacher. Mai has always believed in me even on the occasions when I have lost faith in myself. She is a uniquely wonderful musician, thinker, and person, and it has truly been my honor to study with her. From the bottom of my heart, Mai, thank you.

*In loving memory of my friend Ethan Chen.
