NEC Jazz Orchestra presents Vanguard: The Music of Ran Blake

The NEC Jazz Orchestra will present Vanguard, The Music of Ran Blake, a concert featuring music composed by long time NEC faculty member and founder of NEC’s Third Stream Department in 1974, Ran Blake. Blake will perform at the piano, along with vocalist and fellow NEC faculty member Dominique Eade, performing many of Blake’s most beloved compositions, including “Breakthru,” “Horace is Blue,” “Memphis,” “Short Life of Barbara Monk,” “Vanguard” and “Wende.”

 
In addition, the NEC Jazz Orchestra will perform music arranged for Blake’s Film Noir concert series over the past decade, including music from Gaslight, Pawnbroker, Vertigoand Wild One. Excerpts from the films will be projected as the music is performed.
