Music from the 17th century Istanbul

DÜNYA ensemble led by faculty Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol presents a diverse range of music compiled by Ali Ufuki in mid-17th century Istanbul including Sufi/religious music, unusual examples of entertainment and dance music with (what we would consider today) obscene lyrics as well as rhythmic complexity that is not to be found in the current Turkish repertoire.
