Mathias Aaen, PhD presents a master class featuring students from the Vocal Pedagogy and Jazz Voice areas at NEC.

 

Bio:

Mathias Aaen is a Researcher at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) and Complete Vocal Institute (CVI) focusing his work on the physiology and acoustics of vocal technique and voice rehabilitation. Mathias did his PostDoc at NUH and CVI, got his PhD, MA CC, and BA MMC from Aarhus University, Denmark and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. Mathias is co-recipient of a grant from the Danish Innovation Foundation focused on the development of new interventions for rehabilitation of MTD using CVT.

He has authored and co-authored numerous publications in Journal of Voice along with Cathrine Sadolin and Dr. Julian McGlashan. Mathias holds an Honorary Contract at Nottingham University Hospitals, and is the recipient of multiple honorary awards, including the Augustinus Foundation Award and JORCK’s research award. As a singer, Mathias has performed on Danish national television, sung on multiple records, and toured in Europe and in the US. As an Authorised CVT Teacher, he has taught voice professionals across Europe, Asia, and the US.
