Strings of Souls 弦之靈: Wu Man 吳蠻 pipa and Hsin-Yun Huang 黃心芸 viola

This is a creative and adventurous "pipa and viola" duet concert. Historically, the pipa and viola have not yet had the opportunity to have a direct 'dialogue'. The two instruments have their own distinct cultural traditions and characteristics. Wu Man and Hsin-Yun Huang both have accumulated of experience in their own fields. This time, their groundbreaking collaboration will present the audience with a unique musical journey.

The program has spans time, space and culture from Ligeti to Hua Yanjun 華彥鈞 ; Chou Wen-Chung 周文中 to Ahmed Adnan Saygun; and Lei Liang’s 梁雷 new commissioned work "Mother’s Song " for the two, also a sextet version of the ancient pipa piece ‘A Moonlit Night On the River in Spring’ arranged by a young composer Sofia Ouyang 歐陽真真 .
