A Far Cry Presents: Reimagined

A Far Cry's season opener explores how we develop music and ideas as a way to process change and to adapt and grow.

"When I was building the program I was thinking about how at the time that Bach was writing, women could never receive acclaim for composing. So with the Casarrubios and with Wiancko’s arrangement, we get to experience Bach reimagined by women. But then with Washington it’s a different sort of reimagining: reimagining painful circumstances into ones that inform identity and self acceptance. Then, in a new arrangement for A Far Cry’s full forces, we’re reimagining a piece Schubert wrote as he was grappling with his own health and mortality into this larger communal, musical experience, and asking, ‘What if we shared our burdens more collectively?"'
