A Boston ConNECtion Concert
Presented in partnership with the New England Conservatory

BMOP returns to its home concert venue, Jordan Hall, with an evening of works by the seminal American composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich. Featuring three of her latest works, the Ellen Taaffe Zwilich Portrait Concert also reunites BMOP's partnership with the New England Conservatory, where Zwilich will be The Malcolm Peyton Composer Artist-in-Residence that week. Zwilich's Commedia dell'Arte for violin and string orchestra and Concerto Elegia for flute and string orchestra will both feature longtime members of the BMOP orchestra as soloists, while her Symphony No. 5 will conclude the evening. Zwilich's Upbeat provides a fitting opening to the concert.

As BMOP kicks off its extended 2022-2023 Quarter-Century Celebration season, this return to historic Jordan Hall and portrait concert of an icon of American symphonic composition is not one to be missed.

COVID-19 Requirements at Jordan Hall:
All audience members must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to NEC's front of house staff upon point of entry to all performances.  NEC reserves the right to refuse entry if vaccination status cannot be confirmed. Audience members must be masked at all times.

In order to comply with Jordan Hall's COVID-19 safety requirements, this concert will be approximately 75 minutes with no intermission.

The Malcolm Peyton Composer Artist-in-Residence was established in 2018 to honor Malcolm Peyton, a member of the NEC Composition faculty for over 50 years. During his remarkable tenure, Malcolm influenced the lives and careers of many students through his teaching and direction, as well as his dedication to the creation of new music at NEC. This residency was established to recognize his devotion to NEC and the continued pursuit of excellence in the Composition Department.
