Contemporary Improvisation presents Songs of Victory and Defeat

Original songs and recompositions grappling with scenarios of victory and defeat—some personal, some global, some historic, some spiritual, linked by the words of such legendary figures as Martin Luther King, Hellen Keller, Malala Yousafzai, and many others.

In addition to individual student songs and instrumental works, ranging from folk to punk, you will also hear pieces by NEC’s American Roots and CI Chamber Music Ensembles.

The Contemporary Improvisation department will take you on a musical journey with songs about freedom, women’s rights, death, immigration, relocation, love, joy, and sorrow. Bring your voice and prepare to join in!
