CI Salon Night: CI for Non-majors, Persian, & Interdisciplinary Ensembles
Students from NEC’s ground-breaking department of Contemporary Improvisation perform in the CI Ensemble for Non-Majors, led by Mark Zaleski, the Persian Music Ensemble, led by Nima Janmohammadi, and the Interdisciplinary Ensemble, led by Linda Chase.
Non-Majors Ensemble
The Non Majors Ensemble offers the opportunity to explore a broad range of compositional and improvisational practices and strategies that draw strongly on aural traditions from many cultures.
Persian Music Ensemble
The Persian Music Ensemble offers an introduction to Persian musical traditions.
Interdisciplinary Ensemble
The Interdisciplinary Ensemble makes connections between and is influenced by the relationship between music, improvisation, and other art forms of artistic expression including composition, poetry, visual art, and dance. Techniques and experimentation with conduction, incorporation of spoken word, partial composed improvisation, sound painting and story-based pieces serve as springboards for improvisation. There is also exploration in the relationships in music, nature, and transformation.
