Boston Early Music Festival Presents: Erik Bosgraaf & Francesco Corti

A Tribute to Anne, the Princess Royal and Handel’s favorite pupil

After making an enthusiastically received appearance at the 2021 Virtual Festival, the internationally renowned duo of Erik Bosgraaf and Francesco Corti make their in-person début for BEMF in a program that pays tribute to Princess Anne, the eldest daughter of King George II of England. She was a pupil of Handel—his recorder sonatas may have been written as part of her studies—and remained a devoted supporter after she married the Prince of Orange and moved to The Netherlands. The program also explores other composers for whom she was a patron, supporter, or friend, including Leclair, van Wassenaer, and Schickhardt.
