CANCELED: Faculty Recital: Russell Sherman's Beethoven

| New England Conservatory: Jordan Hall

This event has been CANCELED due to illness.

In this piano recital, NEC Distinguished Artist-in-Residence celebrates 50 years of teaching at NEC with an all-Beethoven program, second of two concerts.

Sherman and Victor Rosenbaum, also marking his 50th teaching anniversary, have gathered two completely different selections from Beethoven's works, with Sherman focusing exclusively on the late sonatas, all the way through the final, 32nd. Both pianists perform the 27th sonata, affording an opportunity to experience two different outlooks on the same score. This bookends Rosenbaum's concert two weeks earlier, on October 1.

Don't miss Russell sherman's Schumann, on September 24.

Welcome to NEC at 150! Every generation of musicians remake and change New England Conservatory. Some, like Gunther Schuller, continue to influence our music beyond their lifetimes. Others contribute for decades, pushing the sense of what's possible by their own examples. The entire season is stuffed with chances to see the NEC legacy in exceptional, infectious, passionate action. Don't miss them!
