Rebecca has been associated with New England Conservatory throughout her music education and career. She has served as Director of the Preparatory School since 2012, but worked with the Prep School for several years prior, and received her undergraduate degree from NEC in Harp Performance. Rebecca's musical adventures have taken her around the globe in orchestral, chamber, and solo performances. In addition to summers at the International Festival at Round Top, Aspen Music Festival, and the Camden Harp Colony, she has given performances throughout the U.S. and Latin America.

Tanya Maggi

Violist Tanya Maggi is an internationally recognized arts educator and has worked on community engagement projects around the globe to connect musicians with diverse audiences. She also has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber groups around the country including the Tulsa Philharmonic, the Youngstown Symphony, the Akron Symphony, Quincy Bay Chamber Orchestra, and Emmanuel Music, among others, and was a member of the renowned New World Symphony where she was awarded the distinguished prize of “Musician of the Year”.  A strong advocate and performer of new music, Tanya has collaborated with various contemporary music ensembles and series including Furious Band, New Gallery Concert Series, Dinosaur Annex (Boston), Music on the Edge (Pittsburgh) and Prism Projects (New York) and has been involved in contemporary music concerts under the direction of Oliver Knussen, Reinbert de Leeuw and John Adams.  She has also been involved in numerous musical collaborations with organizations such as The Stone Mountain Arts Center, Salem Art Works, New Genre Festival, Mid-Western Theater Company, and the Harvard Middle Eastern Ensemble.

Alex Powell

Alex is a proud alumnus of NEC, having completed his Graduate Diploma in Vocal Performance here while studying with Vinson Cole. He started in the admissions field as a student worker at NEC then went on to serve as Director of Admissions and Student Services at the Longy School of Music of Bard College and as Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Wheelock College, enrolling the largest incoming classes in the history of both institutions. His doctoral dissertation focused on organizational identity and leadership at music schools. Alex has performed in a wide variety of genres including opera, art song, early music, new music, musical theater, big band, bluegrass, and country. He loves choral music and has appeared in the Boston area with the Handel and Haydn Society, Philovox, Orpheus Singers, Boston Secession, and as director of the Longy Conservatory Chamber Choir. He completed the master course in poetry and performance at the Franz Schubert Institut in Austria where he had the opportunity to work with Elly Ameling, Julius Drake, and Wolfgang Holzmair, among others.

Lauren Urbanek

Lauren joined NEC in 2002 and has led the Financial Aid Office since 2005. She is a strong advocate for personal finance and financial aid education, leading efforts to ensure that NEC students and alumni are aware of their financial options. She has served as chair of the communications committee for the Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA). Prior to coming to NEC, she worked in the Financial Aid Office at Mount Ida College. Lauren studied English and linguistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and continues to explore her love of literature, theater, and photography during her annual summer travels abroad. She earned a master's in non-profit management at Northeastern University.
