New England Conservatory has named Sarah Caggiano as its new Executive Director of Expanded Education. Caggiano will expand NEC Preparatory School’s (NEC Prep) program offerings and identify new opportunities for NEC to reach and educate more students of all ages and backgrounds.

Caggiano will build upon the strong foundation established by NEC to develop new community partnerships, expand on-campus and satellite locations, and increase enrollment in its summer programs.

“Sarah will be instrumental in broadening our mission and will help us bring new musical education opportunities to the greater Boston community and beyond,” said NEC President Andrea Kalyn. “Her years of experience in higher education and ability to turn a collective strategic vision into real-life programs, make her a perfect fit for this position.”

Caggiano joins NEC after serving as the Executive Director of Continuing and Expanded Education at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). There, Caggiano spearheaded the development and expansion of the school’s non-degree programs, turning them from local programs into a global entity of over 8,500 students and 10,000 registrations. Her work ensured that local communities could engage with institutions of higher education – experience she will draw from to expand the educational partnership opportunities available at NEC. At RISD, Caggiano led the team responsible for the continuing education school’s digital marketing operations, business operations, student affairs, academic program development and advising.

“I am thrilled to be joining NEC, a world-class institution, at this exciting time of growth and innovation,” said Caggiano. “I’m passionate about creating engaging programs and leading high-achieving teams and look forward to building upon the strong foundation of NEC Prep to expand our offerings, igniting creativity in people of all ages and backgrounds.”
