Eric Lu '13 Prep was announced yesterday as winner of Fourth Prize at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, held in Warsaw, Poland.

Lu, now 17 years old, studied at NEC's Preparatory School from 2006 through 2013, then entered the Curtis Institute at age 15. NEC Prep piano chair Marilyn Roth calls Lu "a real NEC Prep citizen," since in addition to studies with A. Ramón Rivera and Alexander Korsantia, he took theory classes and participated in chamber music as well as the full array of piano workshops and recitals.

Lu has competed and been featured in concerts worldwide. He qualified for the International Chopin Competition with his win earlier this year at the U.S. Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Miami. More on this
