The Blumenthal Family Library

The Blumenthal Family Library, including the NEC Archives and Special Collections, holds one of the major music collections in the United States, and provides access, instruction and support to enhance NEC’s teaching, learning, and research.

The collection, which holds more than 150,000 volumes of scores, recordings, and books, also includes subscriptions to music journals and electronic databases with a wealth of manuscripts, first editions, personal papers, and performance recordings by NEC’s renowned composers and musicians.

Library Highlights

  • Tapestry of Trailblazers art installation at NEC, featuring framed images of inspirational members of the NEC community.

    Check out the Archives’ latest exhibit, A Tapestry of NEC Trailblazers: The Role of the Artist in Society, featuring the stories of trailblazers of the NEC community and how they used their art to inspire conversation and change. Now on display in the Schuller Gallery.

    This display is a collaboration between Monique Van Willingh, Director of NEC’s Center for Equity and Belonging, and Maryalice Perrin-Mohr, NEC Archivist. Special thanks to Jon Kenney and Andrew Boucek from Collegiate Press and NEC student Andre Bruni.
