New England Conservatory students electrify the Black Box Theater during Chirp, a six-night music technology performance series showcasing live electronic music and cutting-edge music tech.

Today's program was curated by faculty member Lautaro Mantilla

About the show:

DESMADRE: Spanish for chaos. Usually used in a boasting/proud manner, but also in an exclamatory way. Similar words/phrases: Rowdy, partying, chaos, disruptive behavior, destructive behavior, mess, disaster.

The music today is entitled DESMADRE, and it is an exploration of long-form experimentation with sound, electronics, groove, and “dance” music. It will be a 6-hour piece of all improvised music under the umbrella of an after-party “come and go as you please" format.

The performers have devoted their time and energy to developing their language, but they have never played together before.
