What do you like about studying at NEC?

"I've always wanted to work with my idol, Mrs. Paula Robison, and I really enjoy my program because I love working with her. She has opened my mind and enabled new possibilities of music making for me. I’ve also enjoyed the variety of performance opportunities I've had here as a student. I’ve been a member of the Youth Orchestras of the Americas, and even performed as a soloist with one of the NEC orchestras through the NEC Concerto Competition. "

What do you like about Boston?

"I simply love the youthful and vibrant energy that Boston has. I especially love the fact that if I want to go to a museum, there are at least three within walking distance. If I want to go dancing, which I often like to do, there are dozens of discotheques within walking distance. Or if I have a serious craving for Ben and Jerry's Mudslide at three in the morning, I can just walk to a 24hrs Shaws Market.  I mean, you just can't get any better than that. It's fantastic!!"

Can you think of a particular moment or experience at NEC that was memorable?

"The most memorable moment for me thus far is our last orchestral concert playing Mahler’s First Symphony. I vividly remembered looking around to my fellow colleagues and seeing their faces light up while making music, and remembered everything just falling in place. We were making electrifying music together. I could never forget that moment."

What are your plans/goals after NEC?

"I really just love playing the flute. I believe that the best career choice for me that will best exhibit my artistic views would be as a soloist. However, I have no objection to playing orchestrally. I really enjoy working with a large group of wonderful players."

What kind of impact has NEC had on you?

"The level of artistry amongst the faculty and students alike has and continues to have sovereignty over my artistic views and allows me to take my music to a whole new level. I'm constantly being challenged, inspired and motivated. This is how the entire world should live!"

What do you like to do outside of class?

"I'm always playing my flute. I really just love playing the flute. If I'm not in class I'm either in rehearsal, practicing or molding the lives of the aspiring. Outside of school, I love dancing and cutting a rug at a discotheque with friends and I really enjoy late nights eating Chinese food and playing UNO cards with my buddies."
