As a student at NEC, you will perform as a soloist and as a member of large and small ensembles. But that's just for starters. You will also find off-campus performing opportunities through NEC's Community Performances & Partnerships Program (fellowships and one-off service concerts) and through the Music Referral Service (paying gigs).

Wayne Shorter with the NEC Philharmonia

The Wayne Shorter Quartet took to the stage of NEC's Jordan Hall on October 24, 2009, joining forces with the NEC Philharmonia, conducted by Stanford and Norma Jean Calderwood Director of Orchestras Hugh Wolff. At the end of the 2009/2010 school year, many orchestra students mentioned this as the high point of their year. This video captures their performance of Prometheus Unbound, a reinterpretation of the track Capricorn II from Shorter's 2003 Verve album Alegría.
