Some majors and degree programs require the submission of prescreening materials before an applicant can be invited to a live audition or composition interview. Prescreening materials must be submitted to our online digital audition portal at DecisionDesk by December 1. Materials will not be reviewed if we have not received an application for admission. Results of the prescreening review are sent via email between mid-December and early January.
Prescreening recordings are required of:
- all applicants to Conducting (Choral, Orchestral, Wind Ensemble), Contemporary Improvisation, Flute, Jazz Performance and Jazz Composition, Piano, Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy;
- all Artist Diploma and D.M.A. applicants, regardless of major.
Prescreening composition portfolios are required of:
- all applicants to Composition
Confirmation of the live audition or composition interview date will be sent by email approximately one month prior to the audition or interview. Applicants who cancel an audition or interview for documented unforeseen difficulties (e.g., illness, inclement weather, injury) may request placement on a waiting list should openings occur at a later time. However, due to the large number of scheduled auditions and interviews, few openings usually occur.
