An Exhilaration of
Chamber Music

A flight of performances.
A richness of artists.

In December, April, and May, New England Conservatory fills the air with the sounds of piano trios, string quartets, and more, both day and night: an immersion experience for the chamber music lover. Performers include NEC's faculty of chamber music superstars— who have themselves played the greatest works in this repertory—and the students coached by these great artists.

Beethoven Quartets

Like the thirty-two piano sonatas, Beethoven's sixteen string quartets are a complete body of work that is studied from beginning to end. A week before Beethoven's birthday, NEC chamber music students participating in the Beethoven Quartet Seminar continue an annual tradition by performing some of these works. Three quartets, coached by the Borromeo String Quartet, will perform the following:

String Quartet Op. 18, No. 5

Stephanie Zyzak, So Young Choi, violin; MyeongHoon Park, viola; Taeguk Mun, cello

String Quartet Op. 74

Li-Mei Liang, Robert Anemone, violin; Shira Majoni, viola; Joseph Gotoff, cello

String Quartet Op. 132

Michael Rau, MuChen Hsieh, violin; Sergio Muñoz, viola; Seth Russell, cello
