Katalin Viragh studied at the Bela Bartok Conservatory of Music and the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. As a violinist, she was a member of the Hungarian National Opera when she was invited to the Orchestra Symphonica Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. Since 1990 she is a resident of United States. She is a former member of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and a founder of the Viragh Trio.
Katalin Viragh is currently a member of the Hartford Symphony and she is an adjunct professor of theory/ear-training at the University of Hartford/The Hartt School.
Viragh is a permanent faculty of summer workshops using the Kodaly approach at New England Conservatory as well as Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebr., State University Wichita, Kansas, and the University of Colorado, Ft. Collins, Colo.
