How do you rehearse and perform choral music in a pandemic? Last fall, graduate conductors Joseph Nizich '21 MM and Jennie Segal '21 MM led the NEC Concert Choir in a performance that combined both in-person and remote ensembles titled, "Great Music for a Great (Virtual) Space."

Grow Your Art grants totaling $13,500 have been awarded to NEC alumni Emily Eng, Darynn Dean, Rafael Natan, and Linda Numagami, and will support a microgrant program for Black, Latinx, and Native American music students, a series of concerts and film screenings around women in jazz, an accessible School of Arts and Social Justice, and a clarinet festival.

This is the fourth year that NEC's Black Student Union has honored Coretta Scott King, a 1954 graduate of the school who met her husband, Martin Luther King Jr., while studying in Boston. This year's celebration takes the form of an hourlong digital concert on Thursday, February 25, titled “Continuation of a Dream: Requiem.”
