Mark Adamo
New England Conservatory's opera studies department welcomed renowned composer and librettist Mark Adamo to campus for a residency last week. Collaborating with NEC students, Adamo workshopped his new opera, Sarah in the Theatre, a commission for Odyssey Opera about Boston operatic legend Sarah Caldwell.

Anna Poltronieri Tang ’25
When Vocal Performance major Anna Poltronieri Tang '25 first heard Sheila Silver's Beauty Intolerable songbook set to the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay back in 2021, its messages about womanhood profoundly impacted her. Two years later, with support from NEC's Entrepreneurial Musicianship (EM) office, Anna produced Beauty Intolerable here at NEC with her peers in the voice department, faculty member Tanya Blaich, and guidance from Sheila Silver herself.
