Learning Outcomes

Residence Life aims to complement the conservatory’s established Community Values in assuring the growth, safety, and ethical conduct of the community as a whole. We co-create with residents an environment where new knowledge about self and diverse others can be learned, incorporated, and applied to future actions. Residence Life staff does this by encouraging reflective thinking to create personal persistence and positive development.

Students who interact with Residence Life staff and its engagement opportunities will

  • Discover and reflect on personal values and ethics while exploring their sense of self and purpose
  • Develop meaningful relationships with persons different from themselves through collaboration and interdependence
  • Express appreciation and respect for the diverse identities, values, and thoughts within the residential community and beyond
  • Create a sense of social responsibility in response to local and global community needs and issues
  • Integrate practical skills in personal management, including effective communication, health and wellness, time management, and stress management
