First Monday Series

For more than 40 years, First Monday at Jordan Hall has been a cornerstone of New England Conservatory’s musical community, bringing together acclaimed faculty, distinguished alumni, exceptional students, and guest artists for unforgettable chamber music performances.
Founded by renowned cellist Laurence Lesser, the series celebrates the artistry, collaboration, and spirit of discovery that define NEC.
Each concert features compelling programs that pair beloved masterworks with works that offer new perspectives, reflecting the Conservatory’s enduring commitment to artistic excellence and musical innovation. Concerts on the First Monday series are free and open to the public and streamed live for audiences around the world.
Meet the Artistic Co-chairs

The series’s new Artistic Co-Chairs, violist Nicholas Cords, violinist Soovin Kim, and pianist HaeSun Paik, will continue, with Lesser’s support and encouragement, and in collaboration with departments across the Conservatory, the tradition of bringing together faculty, alumni, students, and guest artists for sublime and memorable concerts that are free and open to the community.
