Master Classes and Residencies
MacArthur Fellows, Kennedy Center honorees, and Grammy winners are among the creative visionaries leading master classes and residencies at NEC. In these much-anticipated sessions, world-renowned musical guests join current students on stage to share wisdom and technical expertise throughout the academic year.
Recitals
NEC’s students meet one-on-one each week with a faculty artist to perfect their craft. As each student prepares to leave NEC and make their mark in the performance world, they present a full professional recital that is free and open to the public.
Off-Campus Gigs
The Music Referral Service (MRS) provides exceptional musicians for local events, occasions, and private instruction, connecting available and talented NEC students and alums with local clients in need of musicians. Our instrumental and vocal musicians are classical, jazz, pop, and folk pros.
Community Performances and Partnerships
A recognized trailblazer, NEC’s Community Performances and Partnerships Program is one of the premier programs in the nation for engaging conservatory students with their community through robust, meaningful partnership activities and high-quality training.
CPP interacts annually with nearly 15,000 people through more than 600 events across ages, neighborhoods, ethnicities, and economic levels in Boston and beyond. CPP simultaneously provides NEC students a crucial opportunity to explore what it means to be a musician living in and contributing to community life within an atmosphere of supportive mentoring, professional development, and experiential learning.
Performance Venues
NEC students, faculty, and internationally acclaimed visiting artists play in visually stunning and sonically impeccable rooms across our intimate campus, from performances by string quartets and solo artists to orchestras and fully staged operas.
