Prep Recitals & Accompanists

The Preparatory School workshop/recital system offers students valuable performance experience as well as a wide range of viewpoints through direct feedback from various instructors.

Students are recommended to participate in group workshops and recitals by their private teacher. Students participating in workshops will play for a member of the faculty who is not their private instructor and will receive written feedback from that faculty member following the workshop.

Students are recommended for recital programs based on their performance in workshops. Each student should participate in at least one workshop per semester. Accompanists are provided free of charge for string and woodwind department workshops and recitals.

Prep student recitals are scheduled on Saturdays throughout the year. These are free and open to the public. Most departmental workshops and recitals occur at 12:00 on Saturdays.

Follow the links below for more information on how each department schedules workshops and recitals.

End of the Year Recitals

In addition to group recitals, students who are registered for at least 12 private lessons each semester are also encouraged to perform solo recitals (end of the year recitals). Students may perform half or full recitals and may share their recital with another Prep student. All performances must be approved by the student's private instructor. These recitals can be scheduled by using the Recital Request Form below.

For the 2017-2018 school year, Certificate students may begin scheduling May required student recitals on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Students not in the certificate program may begin scheduling non-required recitals on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The 2018 recital period will run from Wednesday, May 23 through Saturday, June 9.

Please download the application below for full information or email Patricia Kopko, Department Coordinator with any questions.

Prep students can use this form to request a date and time for their student recital.
