Artist Diploma: Classical Instrumental

Musicians in the Institute for Concert Artists earn the Artist Diploma, NEC’s highest-level performance designation. Concert Artists deepen their artistry and broaden their musical perspectives with the support of NEC faculty and the ICA’s extensive resources.

AD students are awarded a full-tuition scholarship and an annual living stipend.

    Geneva Lewis ’20, ’22 AD

    Violinist and NEC alumna Geneva Lewis ’20, ’22 AD is the recipient of multiple awards for rising stars in string performance, including a 2022 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Grant and a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant. She was also the Grand Prize winner of the 2020 Concert Artists Guild Competition. Lewis was recently named one of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists.

    Leland Ko ’24 AD

    Cellist Leland Ko ’24 AD has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across the United States and internationally at such venues as Carnegie’s Weill Hall in New York, Symphony Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston, and Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada, Spain. Ko received NEC’s Presidential Scholar Award for 2022-24 and, in 2023, served as a Young Artist in Residence for American Public Media’s radio program Performance Today.

    Pianist Changyong Shin ’25 AD studies at NEC with Wha Kyung Byun. He is the Saj-Nicole A. Joni Artist Diploma Scholar and the recipient of a scholarship made possible by the Charlotte F. Rabb Presidential Scholarship Fund.
