Ziang Xu '18 MM Piano Performance won the gold medal in the 27th annual New Orleans International Piano Competition this July. He performed Beethoven Piano Sonata Op. 106 “Hammerklavier” and Philip Glass Metamorphosis No. 2 in his final round. Ziang has studied for the past four years under NEC faculty Victor Rosenbaum.

This fall, Ziang is returning to New England Conservatory as a DMA candidate in Piano Performance and will be studying with Bruce Brubaker, chair of the Piano department. Ziang's other first prize wins include the Rondo Young Artist Competition, The East Coast International Piano Competition, The Princeton Festival Piano Competition, and the Grand Prize at the Steinway Society of Puerto Rico Award.
