Jazz Lab is a week-long creative music program unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.
Musicians ages 13–18 work with world-class faculty and guest artists in small ensembles, instrumental workshops, and master classes, and enjoy incredible performances.

About the Program
What to Expect
Jazz Lab is an immersive, week–long intensive designed to help you find your unique musical voice.
You will develop your improvisational skills and broaden your artistic perspective through small ensembles, innovative workshops, master classes, and Boston excursions. Your experience will be guided by expert faculty artists who teach at New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, The Juilliard School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The week concludes with a final concert where you will perform alongside your peers and faculty mentors.
Who Should Attend
If you are a musician interested in Jazz between the ages of 13–18, you are welcome at Jazz Lab. Because the program focuses on the creative and collaborative side of music-making, you will find new ways of thinking about music whether you are a beginner or an advanced player. No audition is required.

How to Register
Eligibility
Jazz Lab welcomes musicians ages 13–18 eager to grow as jazz musicians and performers. Guided by expert faculty, students refine their technique, expand their artistry, and gain insight into the path ahead — whether preparing for college-level study or simply exploring jazz in a supportive environment.

What’s Included
Participants in the program have the option to either stay on NEC’s Boston campus during the duration of the program or commute to campus each day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
