“...incredible. Engaging, supportive and fun.”
Summer Session contains programs that don't exist during the year. Think of summer session as our summer semester. While some things are similar to what is offered during the academic year (lessons, ensembles, Jazz theory, etc.) there are other events geared towards adult students that are exclusive to summer only (conductors forum, opera studio, etc.) We are also looking into offering more classes for undergraduate and graduate credit so that the NEC college students can have some summer study opportunities.
Whether you are a seasoned professional or an avid amateur, NEC's School of Continuing Education Summer Session offers workshops, private studio instruction and professional development. The summer session curriculum includes College, Continuing Education, and Preparatory classes, ensembles and private studio instruction, as well as short-term intensive institutes. Please select your institute or class from the navigation menu on the left. Summer Session intensive programs can last from 2 days to 3 weeks and carry a range of credit and non-credit options: G (graduate), UG (undergraduate), CE (Continuing Education), non-credit, auditor, day pass. Financial aid and tuition discounts are available.

Summer Session I.D.s
Students registered for summer institutes must obtain a summer session ID badge upon arrival to NEC. These ID badges will be distributed by each institute’s administration on the first day of the institute and are only valid during the dates listed on the ID.
Preparatory and Continuing Education students who register for summer session private lessons or jazz ensembles and currently have an NEC student ID (Penguin Pass) can obtain a summer sticker from the Prep/CE or Business Office to be added to their existing student IDs. Students who need to obtain an NEC ID can submit a photo to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please be sure to include the words “Photo ID” in the subject of the email. In the text of the email include the student’s full name, exactly as it appears in the online registration database. Please label the attached photo (in jpeg/jpg format) with the student’s full name, exactly as it appears in the online registration database. Students who have a summer session ID badge do not require a photo. Only Penguin Pass I.Ds require a photo and summer sticker.
Students should carry their IDs at all times to access NEC campus buildings.
