Bringing together musicians who have demonstrated extraordinary virtuosity within their musical realms and are ready to advance to the world stage.

ICA Artists explore their music in greater depth, advance their understanding of the business of music, learn how to thrive as soloists, acquire marketing skills, discover how to connect with audiences, achieve new heights of musicianship, and earn NEC’s prestigious Artist Diploma. In the ICA, they learn how to thrive as soloists, explore their music in greater depth, develop an understanding of social media and marketing techniques, and achieve new heights of musicianship. ICA Artists complete the program fully prepared for the high-wattage demands of a career at the preeminent echelons of music.

A Launchpad to the Professional World

The Institute for Concert Artists is home to NEC’s prestigious Artist Diploma program for musicians in the following disciplines:

Making a career in music requires a robust set of professional skills, including the ability to engage audiences, cultivate a dedicated fan base, leverage technology and social media, and actively pursue collaborative opportunities. Artists must also develop creative and compelling programs that express a distinct point of view, promote new repertoire, and speak to audiences from a wide range of backgrounds.

NEC’s Institute for Concert Artists offers a two-year Artist Diploma program for gifted musicians that gives these emerging artists the individualized guidance, support, and resources to take their artistry and their professionalism to the next level, preparing them to make a significant impact on the future of music.

Concert Artists engage in a customized program that bridges student and professional life. The program meets the individual goals and needs of each musician, supporting the highest levels of artistic development through intensive faculty mentorship, professional coaching, and close consultation with a dedicated advisor.
