The NEC Youth Chorale is a highly celebrated mixed chorus for advanced singers in grades 9-12.
The ensemble performs frequently in NEC's Jordan Hall and other regional venues. The Youth Chorale often has the opportunity to perform with instrumental ensembles of various sizes, and in recent years it has shared the stage with the NEC Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Youth Symphony, as well as the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra. Comprised of students from the greater Boston area and beyond, the Youth Chorale offers young singers the opportunity to experience and perform the masterworks of the choral repertoire at an exceptionally high level. Recent concert programs have featured works such as the Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzes, Mahler's Symphony No. 2 ("Ressurrection"), the Mozart Missa Brevis in F, K.192, and the Bernstein Chichester Psalms.
Entrance into Youth Chorale is by audition only. Once students have been accepted in to Youth Chorale, they can audition in the fall for placement in Youth Camerata, a highly advanced ensemble comprised of SATB singers who are members of Youth Chorale.
Youth Chorale is a touring ensemble. In February 2017, YC toured to Italy.
