Artist Diploma: Opera Studies

Opera Studies musicians in the Institute for Concert Artists earn the Artist Diploma, NEC’s highest-level performance designation. Concert Artists deepen their artistry and broaden their musical perspectives with the support of NEC faculty and the ICA’s extensive resources.

AD students are awarded a full-tuition scholarship and an annual living stipend.

    Artist Diploma Student Sings “Queen of the Night” Aria from Mozart’s The Magic Flute

    Soprano Yeonjae Cho ’24 AD, as the Queen of the Night, sang the demanding aria “Der Hölle Rache” from Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte) in a live performance at NEC’s Jordan Hall. NEC’s opera studios produce three full-length operas each year.

    Artist Diploma Student Performs “Mi chiamano Mimì” from Puccini’s La bohème

    During Spring 2024, NEC opera students joined the NEC Philharmonia to present the concert version of Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème. In this clip, Josie Larsen ’23 MM, ’25 AD performs the “Mi chiamano Mimì” Aria (Act I, No.7).
